About Marston Science Library
The Marston Science Library, named for Robert Q. Marston, the seventh president of the University of Florida, houses collections in agriculture, life sciences, engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, and environmental sciences. Marston experiences more than 2.1 million visitors annually and supports the teaching and research needs of 42 colleges and departments across campus. Although the collections and reference services at Marston are focused on STEM disciplines, Marston is the most visited library on campus and is a hub of undergraduate student life across all majors. Marston faculty and staff support a highly collaborative environment that offers an array of services, including 3D printing and scanning in the Marston Makerspace. Marston spearheads initiatives related to technology accessibility and actively works to develop partnerships with student organizations.
Spaces overview
Marston Science Library is a five-story building in the heart of campus. It has a variety of spaces to meet student needs. There are over 20 group study rooms and seating in the building for over 2000 people and bathrooms in the NE corner of each floor. The highlights of each floor are as follows:
- 1st floor (aka the basement) – 21 group study rooms, seating for over 700 people, a conference room available for reservations, and the makerspace with 3D printers.
- 2nd floor – Library entrance, four group study rooms, course reserves, the science fiction collection, and service desk with staff happy to answer any questions.
- 3rd floor – group study floor, classroom (L308), the wellness space (L307), print journals,.
- 4th floor – quiet study floor, print book collections.
- 5th floor – silent study floor and one of the best views on campus.

Inclusive spaces
Marston Science Library is a welcoming and open place, and it offers several inclusive spaces for students:
- Gender-inclusive bathroom: 1st Floor, L114A, northeast corner near community bulletin board
- Wellness space (e.g., for lactation, meditation, prayer): 3rd floor, Room 307.
- Sensory–friendly (quiet and silent) spaces: 4th and 5th floors at Marston

How to reserve a study room
The Marston Science Library offers 25 group study rooms to current UF students for group study. Students may reserve up to 2 blocks of time (1 hour) per day. Only one study room may be booked at a time. To reserve a room, visit the library spaces reservation page.
- Select the room and time that you wish to book by clicking on the corresponding box on the Time Grid.
- Review your selection in the area at the bottom of the screen below the Time Grid. In the drop down menu, select your booking end time.
- You can edit/or delete your selected booking slots in this area. When your selection is complete click on “Submit Times” .
- Log in with your Gatorlink username and password.
- Review the Study Room Terms and Conditions. Once done, click Continue.
- Click on “Submit my Booking” to submit your reservation.
“Once your booking has been successfully submitted, you will receive an email from LibCal confirming your reservation. You can cancel your reservation at any point up until the reserved time via the link in the confirmation email.
